Tasmania Police advise a man is in custody following an alleged armed robbery this morning. They say “Launceston Police are investigating after a woman was threatened at knife point in Launceston opposite the Morty’s Shopping Complex. Just after 8:30am today, it is alleged a woman was approached by a man who threatened her with a knife, before taking her purse.

There has been another shooting in Launceston this one at Ravenswood at around 9.20am. Our sources say the shots were fired near an IGA store from a car, they tell TVN they believe it was a shortened sawn off type firearm. TVN has held off for over two hours for Police safety.
