AFP arrests

Six people allegedly involved in a Western Sydney crime syndicate have been arrested by the Australian Federal Police over a multi-million dollar fraud against the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). It will be alleged the syndicate has claimed more than $10 million since 2017 in NDIS funding. The value of the fraudulent claims are alleged to be in the millions.

Fire investigation

TFS and Tasmania Police attended a Structure Fire at Coronation Avenue, Rossarden shortly after midnight this morning. TFS says the house was fully alight upon arrival. An investigation will commence this morning to determine the cause, Tasmania Police remained at the scene overnight.

A Hobart Magistrate this afternoon questioned what Community Corrections did after visiting a defendants home for suitability of home detention discovering a drug grow room. Hobart Magistrate Mr Chris Webster this afternoon ordered a grandmother and her sons partner to go to conciliation to sort out their differences this afternoon rather than having restraining orders in place. The Magistrate said he has a more therapeutic approach and looks at these situations in the longer term outcomes. Both parties seemed happy with the advice.
